Currently Financial Aid items are stored with a full description only. When integrating with other systems such a PowerFaids, it creates a problem in matching the items between the two systems.

It can also lead to duplicate entry of financial aid items - even an extra space or misspelling can allow to create a duplicate item. Having a unique code for each item will improve the overall structure.
