On the student view for assignments, the "Submit Assignment" button is not close to the Files widget where students upload their files. Depending on the students' devices the two may not even appear on the screen together so the Submit button could be easy to miss.

The number of "in process" unsubmitted assignments is noticeably up this school year, and I suspect this redesign is the primary reason why.
