Changing Phone Type Names
I would like the ability to change the phone type labels (ie. Home, Home2, etc) to phone types that are more colloquial. Some of the phone types are a bit outdated (wireless, fax, etc.) and we'd like to rename them to names users will better understand and use.
Also the name 'business/college' causes some confusion for parents as to what this phone type is for.

Yes, a business 2 or School Phone would be awesome. We have some parents who are our after school care teachers and have day jobs. We need their day job work phones for emergency purposes, but then it's listed in our staff phone directory, which isn't appropriate.
Bouncing this up here again too as I'm so frustrated to not have the ability to change out Dorm, Home Fax and Business Fax. Some of these are such archaic and useless terms.
Bouncing this back up here, I would still love something implemented like what Dee Wright had suggested. The ability to edit these categories ourselves would make our data a lot cleaner.
We find that it would be very helpful to have a work phone option or the ability to edit the phone types. Makes sense to have a work phone for parent's contact information.
Again, adding another comment in the hopes that this gains the developers attention. Please help us look like we are function in the 21st Century!

We would like to streamline our options in this field as well--we don't have boarding students, so we could eliminate many of the options. Please help us customize this area!
We really need this ability to add, or at a minimum, edit the Phone Type values. We export cell phone numbers to an external tool for sending out weather alerts and other notices. For this, we could really use type values of "Emergency Alerts" and "Weather Alerts," etc. With this, our parents could specifically manage who gets those different SMS alerts related to their children.
We really need this feature as well. Specifically, we need a "student wireless" type, but the ability to customize the other types would be welcome as well. What a waster "Summer" and "Winter" phone types are!

Yes, a major reason to implement the new system is to stay current and relevant - the list of contact types that constituents are offered does not support that. Please allow us to change them to meet our needs.

Please allow us to do this. The only option for business phone is business/college which makes no sense.
