I would like consistency on when Name and Nickname are used
Presently many location list a users name as First "Nickname" Last, but some location, such as their contact card list it as Nickname Last. I would like all locations that list users names to match a consistent pattern.
In the spirit of transparency and accuracy, I'm cleaning up ideas that were previously marked as Under Consideration or Planned if I'm confident they won't be implemented in the next 12 months. The Core team created the ability to set your user name format per product area, and we have worked in Core to update name display to align. However, making that consistent across the entire system isn't something I can commit alone. For that reason, I'll move this Idea's status, but not for lack of work, progress, or effort!
I agree. Student's first name should never be replaced by their nickname. Many of our new students have nicknames and when our advisors are searching for them in their advising groups, they do not yet know the students by their nicknames, making it difficult for them to find them.
There is also a 3rd way a person is listed...If looking at a person's relationship, it list as First, Last, totally disregarding the Nickname. So, so many people in our area go by their middle name and choose that as their preferred or "Nickname". Consistency & accuracy is needed.

Completely agree ! It should be consistent as First "Nickname" Last. The default should never be Nickname Last.
