Role to view, but not edit, all contact card info

I would like to give users a role that would let them view all user contact information, regardless of privacy settings, without giving them editing access. Essentially, this would give viewing access like Platform Managers do but without the ability to edit.

Jessi - admin and business office. Anyone who needs to search profiles that aren't students/alumni.

Profile publish access, echoing Pam's second comment re: division/role, but I don't think this should override Profile Publish Access settings.

Jessi, Also, ideally, rights by school division and role would be great for this so that they see only students in the school level that we specify and only users with the user roles we specify. For example, Division Heads typically only need to see their school level and Advancement Users go beyond students, to see current and/or past employees.

Jessi, Higher level administrators, including Division Heads and Advancement Office users. We would want this access to override Profile publish access and settings.

Hi all, I have assumptions, but I want your input. Who would be given view-only access? Who (teachers, registrars, advisors, etc.) would you grant this access to? How would you expect view-only contact card access to interact with Profile publish access and settings?

A user just reported to me that, via impersonating another user with Core People Finder access, they were able to search for their own profile and access/edit their own privacy settings! In other words, anyone with Core People Finder access has full and complete access to other users' profile settings. Testing this myself, this isn't just Privacy settings - it's everything, ex BBID connection, disabling profile, etc.

This is, to put it mildly, a bad idea. There needs to be a way to search for and view others' Core profiles without access to all Core profile tabs!

I am shocked this has not already been implemented. Editing contact card information should be something only a few individuals are allowed to do; however, many individuals should be able to view contact card information.

We need more people to vote for this.

This is extremely important!  It saves a lot of time by allowing teachers to simply look up the information themselves (in case of emergency or academic concern) instead of having to go through the main office staff, who are busy enough in a small school.  It also lets us give parents the ability to control what information is available in the directory for other parents to see, while still preserving the school's ability for a faculty/staff member to see all contact info that might be needed in case of emergency.  In today's world, schools shouldn't have to worry about information being restricted to only those with edit access in the event of an emergency.

    That would be wonderful!
