When planning the calendar we use Google and an iCal feed go up to our calendar for our users to view in the onProduct as well. The calendar feed only shows a year from the current date. When planning out the calendar for the next year it doesn't allow you to see far enough ahead. We also prefer the print features in the calendar of blackbaud compared to Google. You provide greater detail that our committee needs. To be able to print 18 months ahead is important for our calendar committee.
Thanks,
Kim
Schools function within multiple school years almost 100% of the time.
It is critical that our users (employees and parents and students) can see both the current school year and the future school year in the Education Management Calendar. We begin building our next school year calendar as early as January including releasing that information to the community through the calendar. As the two previous commenters added, families need to see the entire next school year.
The idea of a rolling, dynamic iCal feed is great; but the window is to small. I understand that an unchecked iCal feed can be huge, but the information is important as the calendar is a critical foundation to most (if not all) communications. Allow schools to set the iCal feed restrictions by either a set date range and/or a rolling number of months.
Please extend the future of the calendar out to a minimum of 18 months, or just make it customize-able. We have parents that are trying to plan for travel next fall. With the 12 month restriction, they have to get into direct contact with us to determine when fall classes and events happen.
I think it is CRITICAL that the calendar be able to show not only the current academic year, but also the NEXT academic year. 12 month is an arbitrary time frame in the life of a school and we think having the ability to display the current and next academic years should be implemented as soon as possible. Thanks!
