Turn Messaging Off for Students

I would also like the reply default to be reply to sender (maybe with an option to reply all). Lastly, I would like admin control to delete something causing confusion or something inappropriate.

Hi folks, removing from the description the part about role-based control to inbox messaging being turned on/off as we did not do that. I will open up a separate item for that. But the other two pieces here were implemented earlier this year - default to reply to sender and ability for admins to delete an inbox message from anyone who was on the thread.

Agree! Our school ultimately turned off messaging because we couldn't control access by role/persona. We also want to control push to email, especially for Faculty roles so that staff do not miss messages.

In addition to the great list for ET above, we would also like to turn on/off messaging by school division or grade level. It would also be very helpful to allow student/teacher messagning while prohibiting student/student messaging, especially at our lower grade levels.

We definitely need the ability to set role-to-role messaging capabilities.

My problem is that if parents don't change their settings and don't log in regularly, they will miss messages.  Please let us globally change the setting to push to email.

We totally agree! We currently have messaging on but already 5th graders are going wild. This should be role based like publish personas AND by grade level, we would like to let the student message teachers but not other students!

We are building out core right now and this looks extremely problematic.  We DO NOT want reply all and we definitely don't want everyone to have bulk messaging capabilities--that's not realistic for most schools and their communities.

I am one of the schools that shut down messaging. I think messaging is a great feature, but I need to be able to turn student to student messaging off by grade level. I would also like to see the reply all feature fixed.

This is a really big opportunity for schools to get more out of this software. I've heard from some schools who are shutting down messaging and bulk messaging, AND bulk email because they are worried about giving students and parents access to the bulk features. I think everyone agrees that it is useful for a teacher.

Also, the way it automatically replies to all is really problematic. We have had a few times when we have had to contact support to get messages that were sent to large groups deleted. It makes you want to turn the whole thing off.
