Add Blackbaud ID EAP System Time out Settings

Currently, All Blackbaud ID accounts timeout after 15 minutes according to support (Ticket #316988).

We are already getting several complaints from Staff because of the timeout session.

This is compounded if they keep open multiple tabs.

I see this being a much larger issue when students start using the system.

Please give us the option to change the timeout settings.

Thanks in advance,

Mike Smith

Hello all, Thank you for your patience! As of today we have been able to extend the session timeout for inactivity to 90 minutes.  I know this idea still needs work to make it a configurable setting per school, but we hope this relieves some difficulty for teachers and students as they can more likely get through an entire class without interruption.

    See full details linked here.

Thank you Janet. The "Keep Working" lightbox appeared while I was actively editing a rather lengthy announcement. It made the Announcement Editor lightbox disappear and with it all my edits.

We are actively working on a solution so that changes in progress are not lost from the Keep Working button (this is extremely misleading) We are also escalating a review of the 15 minute restriction to see if any alternative can be implemented quickly.  I'll keep you posted.

Related to what Mathieu states I believe this is now causing my PushPage editors to lose data and edits. We need a fix for this before August becomes September.

This is especially critical when working in bridged Podium windows, for example Pushpage. The system does not seem to recognize that working in one of those screens is activity, therefore you could be actively working on a Pushpage, get timed out and since continuing the session with BBID requires a few redirects, losing all your work.

Just enabled BBID for our Communications Director on Friday and this has happened to her twice today.

I vote for this as well!

It would be also nice to have the authenticated session terminated upon successful logout, that way when the user logs back in, they have to be re-authenticated, regardless of how long the authenticated session is good for.

As of right now, if a user successfully logs out and they sign back in, they skip the authentication redirect and get logged back into the account they were logged in as before if the session is still good and active.

This needs to be implemented right away. Should not have been an issue in
the first place that it cannot be changed...

    Hi all,

We continue to research and pursue ways to reframe the timeout /session length issue to work for appropriate compliance/protection of personal data and the need for users to have continuous access to the system.

Nathan, I will have an update for your shortly to reverse the BBID-enablement on your teacher role.

I've requested our staff be removed from the ID system because of this, it's much too inconvenient - been waiting 3 weeks on that one...
