I've been told that there is no way to send a 'merged' email to students and/or parents.
e.g., if I wanted to send user-specific info that is stored in a custom field, for example, to a group of students, I can't.
The placeholders in 'official notes' are quite primitive, so they don't suffice.
This is something that had been available for years in Edge.
This may be a duplicate idea, but I think this is very important.
