Reports and Advance list should not be so difficult. They are SQL based and most people don't know that. The people who use the system day in and out need to be able to create queries, reports and lists easily and often quickly. This should be MUCH easier. And reports should be able to alter for example change or add the wireless phone to a report. The Home number is not common any more. Or add siblings or change a parameter.
While I'm glad to hear you are enhancing lists, generic lists will never be able to cover every thing. The statement of "replace dependence" has me worried that the solution to advanced lists is to get rid of them and just make more basic lists.
In less than a year of using the system I now have 10 advanced lists that no other school would ever use. To BEGIN with. the major issue with advanced lists is there is no hierarchical listing of fields, no search for field method, and no descriptions of fields. This makes creating an advanced list a guessing game as to where the field I need might live.
Hi Bev,
We are continually enhancing our User, Student, Candidate Lists (and many more in Academics) to create the easiest user experience, and replace dependence on the old lists or reports. I hope you have been able to use new lists for some of your daily tasks. Which are the most painful functions you need to go back to Reports for? Similarly, I know for building pushpage distribution groups you still need to use the old lists, but what other most common tasks are you doing that involve lists?
