We have recently found the need to have a place to alert faculty and office staff that a parent does not have parental (custodial) rights. Either they are not allowed on campus or do not have rights to check out the student or an alert to communicate of some importance. It needed to be a controlled field and only be viewable by internal faculty and staff or aftercare workers.
We finally found that the edit area in the header of the record in academics was a great place to add HTML and create this "alert". However, this is not what the faculty sees in the roster. So we added a second place to enter this text to display a restriction. On the contact card under Faculty - directory or via a roster...... (see attached word document)
We liked this workaround because it was at the top of the screen when a user opens the record. It can be colored using HTML as an extra special level of importance. It seemed to be working for 3/4 of the year.... The latest release combined the bio fields into one part and now our "comments" are collapsed. The user would need to remember to click on "show more" to see if there were any important notes.
QUESTION: How do you deal with notifying several different parties (roles) that there are custodial restrictions or special parental issues that internal faculty and staff need to know about certain children? We need a place to enter "alerts" for internal eyes only. Does anyone have any better ideas on how to mark student files with custodial notes?
Hi Lorrin, I am also interested in seeing the attachement as we are facing the same problem. As far as I can see it is still planned but not implemented and could help us out until it is.
Hi Lorrin! We are adding what we're calling Profile Notices very soon - these will be any important notices you want to make on a student (or or many) which will reside in a notices tile on the contact card and then also be represented as an alert icon on rosters and in the student summary info/header throughout the system to visibly prompt teachers and others to go look at their alerts on the contact card. We did discovery with several schools and as an out of the gate get it done approach passed with thumbs up. As always once we get it out there we can iterate on further functionality as needed. Hope this is well-received!
The "add alert" function in Raiser's Edge is so useful, can we have this feature in LMS/SIS?
Lorrin, I know this is an older thread, but would you be able to share the HTML code? There does not seem to be a way for me to look at the attachment.
