what is Primary in the Relationship settings Merged

I would like to be able to set up a relationship order for Parents so that when they pull lists/reports they could set which Parent appears first in the order. Right now when you pull parent/child relationships the first parent that appears is the first parent that was added in our system.

Yes - and only Parents (not tutors, etc with Parental Access) should show on these lists....

If you don't have a common denominator then it is whatever you want it to be but what ended up dictating our definition for the primary checkbox was integration with Careflow now Magnus.  The 3rd party vendor uses this attribute in the API to derive custody.  If we wanted the two systems to be true we had to work with this hard line.  The box was previously defined as "Primary Contact" but we had to abandon that definition and move the primary contact note to the notes field.

I think this is a big issue.  We need to have the ability to set the relationship order for households. Using the "first person entered into the system just isn't logical for any sorting priority.

I have this same issue.  Parents are listed on a student record in alphabetical order.  I would like to be able to choose which parent is first.  Primarily this is for non-custodial parents.  When I run a list that displays all parents (like a copy of Students with Parents (Flattened)) - I want the parent that the child lives with to be the first parent that appears in the output.  Non-custodial parents should not be first.
