Please do not include withdrawn students in class ranking

Currently withdrawn students are included in class ranking for the school year.   As a default, it would be best not to include them and to have a checkbox for including if preferred.  Or, perhaps a better idea --- In the Enrollment year, you could include a checkbox to exclude the student in the ranking calculations for the year.  That might help with any students who shouldn't be included in ranking such as withdrawn students or new students (for valedictorian consideration).

This idea has been submitted several times before, but I'm including it again to bring to the attention of the programming team and folks who oversee updates considered worth pursuing.

    Morning Everyone -

With today's release, you now have a new 'Exclude Past Students' checkbox in your Rank Calculation settings. To have the new setting take effect, you'll need to mark the checkbox > save > rerun the calculation.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

    Hi Folks -

Just wanted to log a quick update here for you all. We are planning to release a feature on Rank calculations that will exclude users with the role of Past Student. This will appear as a checkbox on the Rank calculation settings.

It's coming very soon, so be on the look out in our future What's New communications!

I just did a search of ideas. I found at least three ideas posted regarding class rank and how we cannot exclude withdrawn students from the rankings. These ideas were posted in 2017, 2018 and 2020 with comments as recent as Oct. 2021. These ideas have been voted for 145 times - yes, I'm sure that there are duplicate votes. However, I've seen ideas implemented with far fewer votes. Including this one that I am posting on and a few right below when I search CLASS RANK.

I cannot print class rank on my transcripts because of this. Others echo the same complaint. Class rank is useless when the class number is wrong in the first place.

This is an issue that demands immediate attention. When a student is withdrawn, they should be simultaneously removed from the ranking. To leave them in is a disservice to all current/active students competing for rank.

TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!! This is a huge issue. Accuracy is necessary for class rank.

This is totally unacceptable. Our state scholarships are based on rankings and where the students fall percentage-wise. We cannot present transcripts with the incorrect rank percentage. Honestly am shocked at the lack of flexibility in this program.
