Allow a different method for advancing through the pages of a list

I have noticed that any list I bring up will have a numbered 1-4 at the bottom of the page, with an arrow to continue to the right. Once you skip ahead to page 4, you can only ever advance by one page at a time.

If I am working on a list of 1500 students, it is extremely tedious to have to press the right arrow key over and over every time the page refreshes (like if I make an edit to something in the list... for example, infractions) and I need to get back to page 17 or 26 or 50.

It would be nice if there were some other form of navigating these pages (a drop-down menu, or the navigation feature some message boards have, where after I would click on page 4, the page counter at the bottom would reset itself to now be 4, 5, 6, 7.). Or any kind of button that lets you skip by more than one page at a time, 2, 5, 10, anything.
