Audio Recording of Student Name Pronunciation on Contact Card/Profile

Students with names that are not common in Western cultures should have the option to upload an audio recording of them (or their parents) saying their name. This can be referenced by faculty and staff ahead of the first day of school or as needed.


Currently our school utilizes a custom field that allows parents and students to update their profile with a phonetic spelling, but that leaves room for error if someone does not correctly interpret the phonetic spelling.

    This seems like a basic upgrade to Blackbaud. I see other platforms doing this. Hope they can implement this soon.

    Our Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion would love this to make our teacher able to pronounce the names prior to the return. It would also help our College Counselors in making our students feel more welcome if they arleady know how to pronounce their students names.

    Our CEI director is trying to move on this initiative. We looked into NameShouts which is expensive and not integrated into BB. Having this be a button in the roster and gradebook like Learning Profiles and Medical info would be ideal.
