Currently, in order to submit a student infraction, the teacher must include a note that the student and parents can see, even if the teacher prefers to only leave a confidential note. One teacher here encountered this problem; she wanted to submit a very minor infraction but felt it wasn't worth leaving a note for the parents (I am unaware of what the infraction was). She ultimately did not submit the infraction because she could not leave just a confidential note, which she preferred to do. Making these required fields an optional toggle would allow for better agency on behalf of the teacher.
