With the new assignment module an important feature was taken away. The ZERO submission option. This allowed our teachers to create an "In System Submission" that was simply a text box for students to type in. That has gone away so now if a teacher only want students to submit their assignment as a response in the text box, student must all see a choice to submit a file.

You obviously have never worked with middle school students. If there's an option to upload a file they are going to do it - even if you tell them a dozen times not to.

The key thing to remember when working with students: the more wrong choices you can remove, the better.

I'm not sure making a feature request for something that was a feature and was taken away is the logical thing to do, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE give us the zero back.

I know you think you are making things better with these updates, but I wish teachers were consulted before these changes were made irreversible.
