When processing an inquiry, there is an option to not update a users record if their record already exists in Core. However, if that same inquiry advances to applicant, you are forced to select "Update user information from application" even if it is incorrect (typo, etc.). You then have to remember all fields to correct and go back to each records on the application (sometimes 6+) to correct each field on each record.
