The event registration piece in Enrollment Management (formerly onBoard) is used for scheduling tours as well as various other events. For our Lower School tours, we ask that the parent only attend the tour. However, because many of the settings under Candidate fields are hardcoded and required, it causes much confusion because one of these fields is "Candidate Attending" and must be filled in. This requires us to message many times in many places regarding only parents attending and makes for awkward face to face conversations if the child is brought with them to the tour.
It would be more useable/flexible if we had the ability to deselect all options listed and allow only those items that we want to have listed/required to show. Alternatively, if there was an additional backend option to allow for a platform user to select items/fields on an event registration form to be required in the form or not. This would allow other divisions to have the candidate attending and other fields required and not forgotten when an admission/or other manager is setting up the event registration.
The new event registration experience is now live!
It would be great if we could get this removed as a required option. As with others, our events are intended to be for parents only, and being unable to remove this option makes it very difficult to use event management without significant confusion.
You can change the text to say parents only. I was able to do so for our registration form. What is more pressing is the fact that all name fields that are required are being taken into consideration in the attendee counts. This is maxing out our attendee cap and preventing other parents to register. There should be more backend option in order to allow a more tailored experience based on our needs. But if the program could just take into consideration the number typed into "Number of Parents Attending", as opposed to every name field...that would be great.
Hello,
We are a PK-12 school and offer events that are for parents only as well. It is confusing to create an event and then need to further explain that "actually, we don't want your child attending" after we asked them to put down the name(s) of the candidate attending on the Blackbaud form. This should not be hardcoded and should be an optional feature as we already collect the name of the candidates on the form itself. I vote yes on changing this asap.

Yes, agreed. We are a Pre-K through 8th grade school so all of our tours and Open House events are for parents only. We definitely need to find a way to work around this. It looks like there have been comments about this for several years now....
