Add Maiden Name to Application

I am recommending that maiden name be added to the Application for Parent/Guardian. There are a number of reasons why this would be useful:

  • For Alumni enrolling their children - It would help the admissions department determine which alumni the record to link the new record with to reduce duplicate records in the system

  • For accounting (tuition and development) – it would confirm that a payment made in the maiden name is the same as the record recorded in the married name. This is important for receipting purposes as accounting needs to confirm it is the same person.

Please add this - it's always frustrating when there's a contact card field built in that we can't collect input for. Seems obvious. It's particularly helpful for smaller community schools like ours where there are a lot of families connected by marriage, same last names, etc - maiden names helps to keep track and sort out questionable duplicates.

We utilize Maiden name very frequently for our Graduate School students in the event we need to match information with Raiser's edge or help with any other institutional advancement efforts we have for our College. Could you please add Maiden Name in the Student Application - Applicant section?

When we receive an application from a candidate, we want to avoid having a duplicate record for their parents who are an alum of our school (or not needing to manually merge the records, which is a very tedious and lengthy process). Currently, there is not a mechanism for parents to list their maiden name as part of the application and subsequently allow the maiden name field to be cross referenced against last names in the system. This would avoid duplicate records.
