We have been having our students' Hebrew first names listed as their Suffix and anyone who fills it out with Hebrew characters, doesn't get recognized. Additionally it has caused many of our students to have allergies/medication information listed as their Hebrew first name in their general information section under their contact card tab.
Please, please, please!!!! We are a Jewish Day School and we used the Hebrew names daily. There are several different ways to write the students' name in Hebrew and we need to be consistent - not even talking when a faculty/staff member that does not speak Hebrew, needs this information. PLEASE add this option.
Noting again that adding Hebrew characters has not become easier - you still get question marks. As DBA for a Jewish private school, I've gotten requests to pull lists of Hebrew names to be used for displays, etc. We can enter them in a custom field on student profiles, but they just show up as question marks when refreshing the page.
as a jewish institution is is imperative that our student's names be able to be reflected in the comment card in BOTH english and hebrew. These names are not always the same and they both need to be able to be included in their native alphabet.
Chiming in again here - Sarah, the fix you mentioned doesn't seem to work (see my previous comment). Can we get some clarification on whether this is being worked on, or Blackbaud considers this "implemented"?
Sarah, I just tried adding Hebrew characters to a custom field in a student profile. When the change is saved, the characters appear as entered, but as soon as you refresh the page, it becomes question marks. Does this only work for school forms, inquiries, & applications, but not for populating profile info?
We have recently made updates that should make adding Hebrew characters to school forms, applications, and inquiries much easier (no more question marks). I will keep this open, but wanted everyone here to know that it has gotten easier to use the characters in existing fields.
Chiming in here - our school definitely needs this. We have a section on our profiles for Hebrew names, but the database doesn't play well with Hebrew characters - after saving the name in the field, it shows up as question marks. We're trying it in English characters now (ie transliterated), but this doesn't work if we want to export the info for labels, etc.
Hey Elisheva came in to show some support and add a vote! We have a lot of communities that use special characters in their names like yours that use our products so I definitely would love to see this idea get implimented as well. Thanks for taking the time to put it in!
