Currently, in order to withdraw a student and move them to past candidate role, you have to remove them from all community groups. Many of our community groups are generated by smart lists and you have to completely remove the criteria that relates to the student needing to be withdrawn in order to remvoe them from the group. Once this is done for all groups, you can withdraw, but then have to rebuild the community groups (re-add criteria).
