Automatically save question answers on a timed assessment upon expiry

If a student is taking an assessment and does not click outside of the text box of the assessment the data entered is lost when the assessment expires and will be required to be retaken to re-enter that data. We would like functionality to save whatever information is entered once the assessment expires.

Good morning. Looking into this and what our options are. In the meantime I want to point out (though still investigating how much this dovetails into the current issue) that you may want to check your setting in Core for timing out a session (under authentication). I see for instance that one of your schools has 20 minutes. So theoretically if a student were working on an assessment and it is taking more than 20 minutes to write an essay question for example they may be hitting that threshold. Looking into what our options are for adding a 'save as I go' button for students or some other options. Will get back to the group as soon as possible, thanks for your patience.

Please move this up on the priority list. I’m afraid to even remind teachers to use online assessments if they can’t get credit for their work.

I see that this suggestion has been out there for some time but at this point in time with schools having to switch to online/virtual learning many of our teachers are using the time assessments without the save option. A student can be typing an entire essay have the clock run out and nothing is saved! This is a huge problem with added stress for both the student and the teacher.

This is an essential feature that really needs to be addressed quickly - any assessment a student is executing through onCampus should feature both a time lapse save (auto save every 2 minutes) as well as a click to save feature. The current Save For Later feature is somewhat helpful but requires teachers to toggle on and off if they do not want students to "sneak back in" after the assignment is completed.

Yes- the Assessment should auto-save often! This way if a student runs out of time, the teacher can still see whatever data the student did get entered so far, just like in an offline test. It would be even better for the Assessment to auto-save automatically as the student progresses, in case of any other technical issues that may arise (loss of power/ connectivity/ browser crash/ etc.) Auto-saving would also lead to other enhancement features, like allowing a teacher to see Assessment results being entered by students in real time.
