I admit I am a new user. but...I it seems to me that creation and definition of groups is more complicated than it needs to be.

I have just done Procedure|Community and added a group.    I think I offered it correctly. [though I didn't actually offer it; I clicked 'offer groups' and it said all were offered].

WHY can't I just set up the select query now?  I know I have to go somewhere else to do this, but WHERE?   and WHY?

Please simplify.
