Box for annotations needs old functionality of crocodoc

The annotation features are worse in the updated product.  Please bring back the feature set of crocodoc.  Teachers are moving to Google Docs.

Hello Everyone! I'm happy to announce that we have recently implemented a new annotation tool that leverages more robust options than our previous iteration. If you want a quick overview of some of the new goodies, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krkdXMJAAmU

Hi all! We are considering this idea and looking for schools who are willing to try out and provide feedback on some options. Please email me at ben.leddy@blackbaud.com if you are interested. Thanks!

I like the convenience of Box, but its functionality is lousy. Please update it to incorporate the features that Luis Deocares outlines below!

Box is not a good markup tool. We need one that does that MOST mark up tools have these days and a more friendly interface:

    • Type text anywhere in the document (really!)

    • different highlighter colors

    • strikethrough

    • font colors

    • colors on comment box

    • pen colors

An update on this would be great...our teachers are growing restless for options.

We also need functionality for accents in commenting on language submissions. The ability to write text anywhere (not in clickable comment boxes) simplifies the whole experience.

Also, it would be GREAT if grade publiation for submissions was not tied to gradebook publication restrictions; it should work more like assessments.

    THANKS!

Box is basically unusable for markup. For our laptop program in high school, the only option is google. Our MS iPad program and Upper school math and science has gone entirely to Showble for the ability to grade with a stylus.

    Box was DOA.

No improvements of this since 2018?

    Jackie,

Here's a great comparison of old Crocodoc to new Box interface put out by the University of Arkansas:

    https://tips.uark.edu/blackboard-inline-grading-transition-from-crocodoc-to-the-new-box-view/

Our teachers are less interested in what was added (more file types), but are not happy with the reduction of functionality and clunky interface.

Just spoke with Lindsay and she said emphatically the ability to

    • highlight
    • strikethrough
    • change font color
    • ability to type and have it remain visible (not a point)

    Thanks,

    Scott

    Hi Scott,

That's certainly not what we want to hear. Do you have specifics on what Teachers are dissatisfied with? I can report the issues back to Box. The replaced the Crocodoc API with this new Box API. They have been open to enhancements. But I'll need to know details so we can evaluate if Box can make the changes or if we need to consider a different option.

    Thanks!
