Allow us to make a posting to the assignment center that doesn't become overdue once the date is past

For example, if I want to post "bring tennis shoes to class" on Tuesday or "Student led chapter 2 discussion" on Thursday, I don't want it to show up as Overdue. These are not assignments that need to be graded (or marked as overdue), but I want them to show up on the assignment center.

    Huh, this thread is really old... but still a question that is live in October 2021. Please help us find a way to add participation or non-system-submission assignments to the assignment list without generating scary "overdue" badges for the students! Could there be a grade mark that is "completed" or "turned in" that is accessible for teachers that bridges the gap between "overdue/to-do" and "graded"?
