We encountered a problem with cumulative letter grades when the letter grade mapping for an A+ was set to a 98 but the max numeric grade scale should be 100. The recommendation by Blackbaud support was to set the A+ numerical equivalent mapping to 100. However, my teachers balked at the fact that the default for an A+ is now 100 rather than 98. It seems like there is a dual purpose to the top letter grade that is assigned: 1) to be the numeric mapping for the letter grade and then 2) to set the upper limit boundary for the entire grading calculation. In the letter grade scale, there is the numeric equivalent, a minimum and a maximum. I would suggest considering changing the algorithm for cumulative grading to use the value entered as the maximum for the top letter grade for calculating the cumulative.
I agree. Please allow the gradebook flexibility and remove the hardcoded 100 point grade scale. We should be able to set the grade scale as it applies to different courses.
