We wanted a quick place, besides the calendar, to show upcoming athletic events.  Upcoming games are shown on the Scoreboard, but you can't see location and time, and if you aren't associated with the athletic page you can't click for more info.  Bonus points because it brings people to the Scoreboard area and reading the recaps & photos of completed games.
