It can be quite overwhelming for me to manually enter attendance each time we needed a sub. As it stands right now, I get a roster of that class with names checked off if present or tardy. I usually can't get to it right away, so I just collect the papers and try to enter in the attendance towards the end of the day or the next day.
If we could give substitute teachers a temporary login (if external) that's limited to attendance and viewing, say, the Bulletin Board and Topics areas, then they could not only take attendance, but also use some of the materials that a teacher has already provided for the students.
If it's an existing faculty member subbing, it would be nice to quickly give them substitute access to a class with those same limitations (not being able to access the grade book, etc.)
Or it could be a different persona, that would be a way to solve this, but either way its a little bit shocking there is no good way to do this.
It would be great if there was a dedicated substitute role that gave subs access to courses. Things to include access to rosters, infractions, seating charts, assignments, schedules, maybe even a dedicated page with instructions/helpful information.
This would be extremely helpful, and it is a little disheartening to see that this Idea was created back in 2015 and no progress has been made. Please make a sub account a feature!
I agree with Derek, how is it possible that Blackbaud has not made this an option. Take a look at Powerschool, this option has been a feature for a number of years now. I do wonder if Blackbaud programmers are actual school users.
How is this still not a thing? We usually don't use outside, dedicated substitute teachers, so I feel that giving the ability for a current teacher the ability to temporarily be a part of a class and take attendance is incredibly important.
I would love a model like powerschool uses. The sub could click on the teacher and then access only the attendance feature and be done. It would make attendance and subs form efficient.
Admin should combine this with this idea:
Same request.
Our local public school used PowerSchool. They have a school login for substitute teachers; the sub selects the teachers name and can then take online attendance and see seating charts. I hoped I could make this work in EE but it appears the only way would be to make the sub account a teacher for EVERY class which really isn't an option because then it would be on the report card as the second teacher.
We need a substitute login with all of the teachers' schedules available on a dropdown menu.
