I've been working in athletics for 15 years and I update games or Change games, way more then I actually reschedule (postpone) a game.
Example from today.
Originally when scheduling a tennis match with another school, the opponent was going to use Ting Park, however, due to a change in their availability, our match which is still against the same school, at the same time, on the same date, is now at a different location.
I only have the option to cancel the game and add it again (which makes not sense) - or reschedule the game - for the same date, time and move the location. This is not a reschedule - it is a change or an update. I still need a notice to go out, but to alleviate confusion - I want to use the correct verbiage.
another HUGE example where this will be an issue is play off games. I have all of the potential play off game dates noted on each teams schedule. I have the time as TBD, the location as Higher Seed and opponent as TBA. Once the brackets are set towards the end season, I will update the event with the new/correct information - but again - this is not a reschedule.
The word reschedule does not work with this athletics schedule - if anything a Change or update should be added with the cancel.
Please consider.
Agreed. This is a big one for us. It created parent pain where we don't need it right now
This is something that we need added for our school as well. We had an incident where the game location had changed but the notification didn't clearly state that the location was what had been updated it just same "game as scheduled" so when parents were already on the road traveling 2 hours away to a game they didn't realize that it was at a different location 15 additional minutes in a different direction. The dropdown menu on "select schedule change" option should be:
Canceled
Rescheduled
Date/Location Change
Additionally it should alert as game change notification alerting parents/players that they location and/or time was changed. Then when viewing the schedule page it would/should also show in red "updated location or time" so you can see at a glance what information was changed.
We had some VERY irritated parents which is completely understandable.
A quick follow up that the verbiage of reschedule is not consistent in Blackback.
As a parent - I went into my notifications so I could sign up to receive an email and/or text message and the word used there is Game Changed.
If there is a work around or some other way to enter in a game change - I would love to know what that is. I am new with BlackBaud and learning as I go - but this game change vs. reschedule is an issue for our school.
