Allow assignments to be done in specific order rather than depending on due date - "unit, or module " concept

As we are now deep in hybrid learning both remotely and back in the classroom, we need ways for students to self-pace themselves through each unit in the class, but not skip around. So, rather than relying on a date due for an assignment, it's more the order in which the assignments are completed that the teacher will rely on for determining the level of mastery, or when the student can move on to the next module. This is a feature that has been available in many LMS for years - primarily in online higher education, but will need to function for the k-12 space too.

Thank you for your response! We are excited to have the option to add the
assignments to the topic tiles, but... The teachers want the subject
modules (or topic tile units) to be student-centered - the content is all
there, but released at the student's pace, rather than at the pace the
teacher releases it or, instead of the list of assignments being
date-driven, they're dependent on the completion of the prior or a
different assignment - like a prerequisite before moving further into the
subject. When an assignment is created there could be a check box for the
teacher to indicate if it is tied to another assignment in the course, and
when the teacher checks the box, they'd have a dropdown menu to select the
associated assignment - much like they do for the CBE skills. The student
would have to submit the associated assignment before they could select the
next one in line. The feedback we're getting from our teachers is really
driven around asynchronous remote learning and being able to create
independent study courses in addition to our regular curriculum rather than
sourcing from other online course providers. Due dates would fall to the
end of the marking period by default.

    Appreciate your time,

Hi there, are you able to use the assignments functionality we just released in topics for this? The intent was that you could manage your units in topics and include assignment widgets in those units. And we also recently added the ability to publish widgets on different schedules so that you could expose them at whatever cadence you need, with the ability to set them all up beforehand.
