This way, one doesn't have to open a particular assignment and scroll down to the check box to check if it's going into a running average. This is helpful because often, I enter grades into the gradebook but don't want them to be posted/shown until after they are returned. By color coding the assignment, it'd ensure I remembered to check the publish/count towards cumulative average easily.
