Teachers often need to see how a grade on a specific assignment will impact the overall averages of their students or meet with their class BEFORE the students see how their grade has been impacted. Right now, whether the assignment grade is published or not, the students see their subtotal for all assignments in their classes.

It would be very helpful if the gradebook had one subtotal column that shows the subtotal of all published grades (which would be visible to students) and another column that is the complete average for all assignments but that only the teacher can see. This helps teachers ensure their grading is a fair reflection of their students' performance and make adjustments if needed BEFORE the impact of those grades are visible to students and parents.
