Rubrics look different throughout the system (in the rubric bank vs. when grading with them vs. what student sees) and unfortunately if a teacher even "clicks into" a rubric once it's associated with an assignment, even just to see what it looks like, they are then unable to edit, delete, or change the rubric. There are NO grades recorded but they still can't change the rubric. If there is any sort of typo on the rubric OR if the teacher realizes the formatting is horrific in the grading or student view, there isn't anything they can do except delete the assignment and start again. This becomes extra problematic when students have already submitted to the assignment. I understand that this is in place so that a teacher can't accidently delete an assignment that already had grades but there are better ways to do this. At the least, if the teacher didn't actually put in grades, or if the teacher goes through and deletes the grades first, then they should be able to remove or change the rubric. What would be even better is if a message popped up that said, "Are you sure you want to do this? You will delete grades." and then let the teacher make the decision to delete the grades so the rubric can be changed.
