When a teacher looks at a student's assignments in a category on the See student's gradebook" page, the assignments and grades are listed. The category's average is also listed.

Displaying the list of assignments, raw scores, and the category average doesn't tell the whole story - especially when trying to explain unexpected results.

Some additional information would be helpful:

1. indicate that an assignment is excluded from the cumulative grade

2. indicate which (if any) assignments were dropped from a calculation

3. display the assignment's weight factor

4. display the numbers used in the calculation in addition to the nominal numbers for the assignment

For example:

Quiz 1 factor 1 8/10 -> 8/10

Quiz 2 factor 1 7/10 -> 7/10

Quiz 3 factor 1 2/10 -> dropped

Quiz 4 factor 0.5 10/10 --> 5/5

Quiz 5 factor 1 8/10 -> Not in cumulative grade

20/25 = 80%

Items 1, 2, and 3 are easier to implement and more critical. Item 4 (displaying all of the numbers involved) would be helpful.
