Gradebook sort by skill across assignments

Currently, teachers add a single assignment and then multiple skills columns to that assignment. However, teachers are really wanting a view where they can see a single skill and then multiple assignment columns for that skill. In other words, rather than a gradebook organized/sorted by assignment type, they would really like a view that is organized/sorted by skill.

Teachers are really wanting a fast and easy way to see how a student is doing on a skill over time. From the gradebook, they could find the row for a particular student, find a particular skill column and then immediately see a chronological list of columns showing all the assignments that assessed that skill and see the scores change from early dates to later dates. Currently, to get this type of a view, a teacher has to exit the gradebook, switch to the roster tab, find the student, view the profile, switch to the Learning Progression tab, and then click the skill name to open the chronological list of assignments that assessed that skill, and then repeat the entire exercise for each student.
