In general, having more API/Advanced List access to the actual content of courses and the analytics for how students and faculty are using them would be very helpful.

On other LMSes, one of the most valuable tools I had was being able to identify patterns around, for example, the lead time faculty were giving students on assignments, or tracking student access to courses or topics. These are often good early warning indicators for areas where support/clarification/accountability would go a long way before something really untoward happens.
