Right now, the headline functions as a link to the full news story, but there is no way to tell if additional information exists in the long description, so parents don't know when they should click that link. This means teachers must add a line of text to the end of any brief description with more to follow, encouraging parents to "click the link in the title to see..." This is awkward, makes the "brief" description we are trying to keep short longer, and an extra step they shouldn't have to take.

Since these news stories also get inserted into pushpages, the same line shows up in the pushpage where a read more link (much better option) is also available. We would prefer and expandable field where the full text displays on the bulletin board like it does for calendar events with the more/less option. A read more link like the one that appears if we insert the same news story into a pushpage would also work. Just something to clue parent in.
