With the new assignment center settings, when you click a date in the faculty calendar view, the create assignment page has the assigned date as today's date and the due date as next class period. Neither of them are affected by the date clicked in the calendar at all.

While I know many schools use separate dates for assigned and due, our workflow here is to set both days to the due date so the student view isn't obstructed by stretched out assignments. It would be nice to at least get some of the old functionality back by having some part of the assignment get information based off which date is clicked.

Even better would be the ability (either at the teacher level or at the school level) to choose the behavior for new assignment creation.
