I would like to have the ability in Topics to publish the content items at specific dates. For example: if I upload a test but don't want it visible to the students till a particular day, I want to be able to edit the publish date of the specific content, not just the Topic as a whole.
Presently you publish a Topic in its entirety. You cannot choose which parts of a Topic you will publish.
Would anyone here be able to hop on a call with us to review the prototype for this? We're hoping to get it into dev soon and want to validate. Private message me here or send to my BB email angela.addison@blackbaud.com directly your availability. Thanks!
@Angela Addison I was wondering about that! Great, I sure hope so. I know that many teachers like to plan for days/weeks/units at a time and this would allow for that to be done in a much easier way! Thanks!
sorry for the confusion on this one I erroneously set it to implemented - we did recently implement the ability to add a publish time and expire time to the topic itself, but we do not yet have the individual components timing ability. We do however have some additional online learning enhancements coming up so will take this to the team for if we can squeeze it in!
I want to bring light back to this great idea!
Especially now during distance learning I know many teachers who use a topic page for an entire unit.
It would be great to be able to add publish times/dates to the individual elements within a topics page
Would really help with teacher workflow
Coming from Moodle, where teachers could preload assignments, documents, links, etc. and click one button to "hide" or "show" that element, the fact that we cannot do this within the Topics is limiting. Items on the Bulletin Board are given the option of a Publish and Expiry date, but items on the Topics are not. This is problematic for teachers, as Carolyn commented.
Getting the same requests from teachers. The ability to show/hide each individual item/download/link, etc, is a feature they are used to in Moodle that they want to re-create within their class pages.
We have had multiple requests from our faculty for this - for publishing specific content within a Topic. The way it currently stands is not entirely useful. See a direct quote from one of our science teachers:
"I am wondering if I can “hide” information within a topic. I have had to delete everything in a topic page because I didn’t want students to see it too early and get overwhelmed. So what ends up happening is that I have to re-create the topic page every year. It would be nice to just hide information until I am ready to show it."
