Emailing parents of students in a community group

I would to be able to email parents of students in a community group. I know that you can just add the parent to the group, but we would like community group emailing to work the same as academic groups where you can email both parents and students.

Came to the idea bank today to specifically post this idea. Smart Student Community Groups are wonderful where the membership roster is automatically updated by a student filter criteria. However, one criticism is that there is no way to bulk send a message to the parents of the students in the group. In a "class" of registered students, from the roster, it is possible to bulk message the students in the class and/or the parents of those registered students. We would really benefit from the same functionality in a community group. I understand that some community groups can contain members of various roles unlike classes and would not be suitable for the "send message to parent" option, but if I'm using a community group that is a smart STUDENT community group, then all of the automatic members are students, so the ability to email parents would still be very appropriate and appreciated.

This would be useful for the same stated reasons. We cannot use Activities for clubs and activities because it has a limitation that prevents the activity leader from managing members in the group themselves, which the community group has.

We have community groups for all of our student clubs and want the owner of the community group to very easily email all parents of the members of the group. I understand that currently a group owner can send a message to the parents of community group members but we are currently discouraging the use of onCampus messaging for group communication because of its limited features and default "reply all" setting.
