Our teachers are also struggling with the current requirement that the previous grade be deleted first BEFORE a retake can be allowed.  A user case scenario is that a student scores 60% on an assignment.  It decrease the cumulative grade and parents/students are concerned and retake is pursued.  Teacher grants retake, but must delete the assignment grade, so now the cumulative grade goes back up and some students never pursue the retake.  Because previous grade was deleted, teacher cannot "remember" what previous grade was supposed to be.

I believe the assignment grade should be recorded for each attempt.  Then allow the teacher some options of keeping the most recent grade versus keeping the highest grade versus keeping an average of all the attempts.

At the very least, if the previous grade must be deleted for a retake to be processed, the previous grade should be deleted only AFTER the student submits the retake and not before.

We have had a whole class erase in the past. Total disaster!!  Definitely necessary with absences and retakes
