Better lightbox loading experience for large albums

When I load an album with a large amount of photos, I would like a better end-user experience while it loads.

Some potential solutions:

  • Some sort of loading indicator to show the progress
  • Pre-load the first 5-10 images rather than the entire album (for especially large albums)
  • Have an option to show optimized versions (with choice of size) of the photos rather than full resolution (but have an option to download full resolution if allowed)

Definitely. I'd also like better zoom options once the photos are uploaded.

Honestly I wish the archived content showed the same view for photos as the album link for private categories that you can grab from onmessage. You can see all the photos and how many there are in the slideshow, you can add descriptions to the albums (helpful for context and truly archiving activities!), etc. While I love the way the archived photo page looks with the tiled albums, the lightbox view is missing something. The podium media gallery (now the archived content) was consistent with the onmessage album link, and it's one of the very few things from podium that I miss.
