Ability to give rights for simple lists (students, faculty, courses, infractions, consequences, etc)

The lists available under the list menu (students, faculty, courses, infractions, consequences, etc) are really useful.  Unfortunately for a user to have access to the lists, they have to be given manager roles which allow much more access than necessary.  Please make those lists easily available to teachers!

Any movement on this idea? I recently got a request for a list of all students with their Advisor...this is so simple to produce in Basic Lists! I would like to turn on this capability for all teachers. Thanks!

If you have Platform Manager rights, you can give teachers some of what you're asking for by "cloning" roles like Schedule Manager, Attendance Manager, etc. in Core--> Security and then turning on only those tasks within the cloned version of the role that involve lists or worklists. You can then assign teachers to these new cloned roles to give them access to those lists.

HOWEVER, I am totally voting on this idea anyway, because this method still has its limitations-- you are right that even these cloned roles with limited permissions still allow access to much more info than they should.

To give an example: a teacher wanted to be able to run a list of just her own students, showing First Name, Last Name, Email address and Class Section. You wouldn't believe how difficult it is for me as a platform manager to be able to make this happen for her. The "canned" Class Roster reports list a whole bunch of extraneous parent information and don't show email addresses; the Manual Attendance sheet is close but has the same problem: no email addresses. The new "SKY" worklists like Student List or User List come close but don't let me filter on or include columns for Class Section/Courses. The Requests and Recommendations List under Academics-->Scheduling (available by cloning the Online Signup Manager role) is SO close (it lets you filter on courses), but doesn't let you include email addresses as a column (why not??). And finally, the Report Card Grades List available under the Grading Manager role seems to be just the right thing...until you realize that there's no way to strip grades access out of any cloned version of the Grading Manager role. We don't, as a school, want teachers to be able to see report card grades for every single student, especially not those they don't teach, just because they are able to run a student list with an email address in it.

PLEASE make this easier. As it is, the teacher who asked me for this list capability is married to the developer who made our previous SIS. I'm about to have to come groveling to her and admit that this multi-thousand-dollar product that we replaced her husband's app with can't even make this very simple list available to a teacher.

Yes! Please!!! This is exactly what we need... And add People Finder to this same access! It needs to be allowed without the greater rights of Platform or Academics Manager assigned to a user!

I think you can share lists with specific users.

Same idea for PeopleFinder...it's incredibly helpful, but only to those with access.
