Report or list of students that are present in a day

It would be very helpful if we could pull a list of students present in a day. In instances such as firedrills, we could use this to make sure all of the students are accounted for.

    Admin response

    Hi all,

This idea is being marked implemented for the original request of a report of students present in a specific day. However, I recognize that many of votes may also apply to the additional needs/requests from the comments for a report that may cover multiple days, a term, or the whole year. I recommend voting on this idea, https://blackbaudk12.ideas.aha.io/ideas/K12OR-I-3262, to follow for updates on report that fits those needs. The ideas have been linked so that my team and I see that the votes here may also apply there.

For the idea of a being able to report students present in a day, the Student statuses list was previously added. This list can be accessed in two places:
    1. The Academics Homepage by clicking 'View all students' on the Find me now tile.
    2. The Attendance Hub by clicking 'Student statuses list' under related links.

This list can be filtered to a specific date and time as well as specific attendance (including Present).

    Thank you!

Agreed to both of the above. We very much need the expansive reporting that Lauren mentioned.

Also it is important to be able to export and print this list for emergency purposes!

Jacqueline - this is a good start, but these must be much more robust. For instance:
    - adding columns, i.e., first/preferred name, last name, grade
    - filter by grade, i.e., HS only grades 9 & 10, etc.
    - option to see multiple divisions, i.e., both our middle and high schools are on one campus, so in the event of a fire drill, we need to know attendance for both divisions (but not for the lower school)
    - ability to save the list (which is really only relevant once there is an enhanced ability to filter and add columns, etc.)

This is very important for all schools- especially in case of emergencies!

This is an urgent and demonstrated need for schools.

Schools need this feature to understand who is present under their care. This would be essential for emergency reunification plans.

The Maine Department of Education has changed quarterly attendance requirements. We are now required to report the days that a student is present. This is linked directly to the State's school approval process. Currently, there is no way to obtain this information and it takes a considerable amount of manual work to build the report.

Positive Attendance reports are very important for all grades levels, but, especially for our PreKindergarten group as our state's licensing for this age group requires positive attendance reports with timestamps.

Department of Education scholarship compliance offices require attendance reports to reflect dates of school attended (present), tardy, or absent. Currently, Blackbaud attendance reports do not show days attended or marked as present.

During this time, this is crucial to make sure people are abiding by quarantine rules.

I need a report that lists all present days per student for scholarship reporting purposes.

I would agree with the statements given already. Our school is a bit different in that I report attendance to 20 plus school districts and the state board of education. The codes have just changed at the state level and BB does not allow me to make the changes I need.

This is a HUGE must at the moment with COVID-19!

You released the ability for VIRTUAL choices to be used in attendance lists today. Please add ATTENDED ASAP!

We need this badly! Especially now. It will also help with contact tracing.

The Attendance List endpoint (https://developer.sky.blackbaud.com/docs/services/school/operations/V1AttendanceGet) tells me who was absent, but we need more information. We need to be able to distinguish between present physically, present virtually, no attendance taken, and class cancelled. I don't see any way to extract "present" or "virtual" through the API or through Advanced Lists.

The data has to be in the database in some way. It's visible to the student and parent. (Although even that screen is somewhat misleading...if the class is marked as Canceled, the student's screen shows "Attended").

The API or Advanced List capability that I need is either:

    • given a student ID and a date, report the attendance information for every obligation on the student's schedule. For each obligation's group, was the meeting cancelled? Was attendance reported? What is the student's attendance status (present, virtual, absent, tardy).

    • given a section ID and a date, list all students on the roster on that date and the attendance status of each student (canceled, not reported, present, virtual, etc). (This is the information that appears on the "Take attendance" dialog for the teacher.)

This has become even more important now that contact tracing is mandated and we have cohorts of students in the building

We have annual audits that ask who is present on a particular day. It would be helpful to have a report that shows who is on campus.

And we need to pull this information by grade level!

It would be great if this report could show both present and absent so we could have one list with all attendance entries.
