SIS: There should be a specific location on the contact card to list a student's "homeroom".

As a small school, we don't have a rotating schedule.  Our students spend the majority of their school day in their homeroom.  We often pull lists and reports based on a students homeroom, and there is not a specific location to easily access this on the contact card.  We have currently created an "admin view only" field to access this information.  But, "admin view only" fields are not always available when pulling reports / lists.

Why can't Blackbaud just create a filed located on the student profile header that allow a school to list a homeroom teacher? They have Grade and Graduating year and BTW Who uses that data at all. Having a Homeroom field in the system would solve a great number of needs.

Thanks Victor - No one had mentioned to us about creating advisory groups for all homeroom students.  I may have to look into this.

But, I still think there should be an easy way on the contact card to indicate a students homeroom.

I agree with you. As a school, we are also doing the same thing. Blackbaud support asked us to use the advisory  groups that has all homeroom students. We did this because we can use smart lists to pull some good info from homeroom students this way. Unfortunately, this is a very annoying process as advisories dont get promoted when classes do.

I wish we could have a homeroom field in the students based on rules.

Teacher John is the homeroom teacher for grade 10.

In 10th grader contact cards i go to the drop down menu and see all the homeroom options, where I can select John as the homeroom teacher.

Maybe someone else can think of a better way of doing this, but I personally would just like to see homeroom as a filter field we can use.
