The system needs to alert a user if the system times them out. Users consistently get frustrated and ask for help because something "isn't working" when they've actually been timed out but the system doesn't alert them - instead they appear to still be logged in but are not. It causes frustration especially to inexperienced users, but also wasted time as it allows you to do certain things, but they're not saved, etc. Is there a reason not to alert a user when they're timed out?
