There should be an option for credits to be given only in full when the class is passed, but also be able to use "credits attempted" in the grading calculation.
Example: for our classes, for a 1 credit class, each quarterly average is found by calculating:
grade * GPA Factor * credits attempted (this quarter)
For a grade of 100, in an honors class that has a 1.05 GPA factor, and is worth 1 credit (and meets for the whole year, 4 quarters), would be calculated like this:
100 * 1.05 * .25
This is then added to the other classes calculations and the sum is divided by the sum of all credits attempted for this quarter.
But, I am under the impression that if I set this up, and the student passes 3 quarters and fails one, his transcript will read .75 credits for this class. We only give out the full credit or none at all, there is no partial credits. We need a way for this to be reflected so we can correctly set up our grading formulas without having to use a bunch of workarounds, like we are currently doing.
