If current courses are included, the transcript builder shows them with a credit of 0.0, which makes it look like the student did not receive credit when really the course just hasn't finished yet. Current courses can be suppressed, but then they don't appear at all, and we need to include a list of the current courses in progress for our seniors as they apply to college. In December, we need those transcripts to include their first trimester grade, which we don't want to include for any other year as we only use year-end grades on transcripts.
So, in short, it would be great to have some more flexibility to control how the current year courses are displayed separately from courses that are finished.
Hi all,
As part of this idea it is mentioned how 0.00 credits display for courses that are in progress if they are displayed. What would you prefer to show in the credit column for courses that are in progress?
Thanks so much!
Jacqueline
Hi Jacqueline,
I'd like to echo both Sarah and Brianne. Our college counseling office currently still uses the old transcript builder in order to have the Courses in Progress display, and we cannot move to the new builder until that is an available feature. It would also be great to have "Expected Credits" or "Credits in Progress" show next to courses that students are currently taking.
One other thing that we've noticed: in Academics > Scheduling > Requests & Schedules > Departments & Courses > if you edit a course > go to the Grading tab and uncheck the "Print on Transcript" checkbox, it will remove a course from being listed on the old transcript builder where grades are displayed, but the course will be listed under the "Courses in Progress" section. We would just like to make sure that for the updates to the new builder's Courses in Progress, that that doesn't keep happening. Feel free to reach out to me (hbeach@holderness.org) if any of that is unclear! :)
Thanks!
~Hillary
I've tried to post a comment in response to your question a couple of times, but I'm not sure if it's going through?
Currently, the only options for credits seem to be past tense - credits attempted, credits earned - and we need something in the present or future tense - credits attempting or expected credits.
Specifically, for courses in progress, I would like to be able to display the expected credits earned so that it's clear whether a course is a trimester (0.33 credits) , semester (0.5 credits) or full year (1 credit) course on the transcripts that we send to colleges in October for early action applications.
Thank you for considering!
I 100% agree with this! We need to be able to show current courses in progress without grades for this school year but also suppress past school years' courses without grades so that certain courses do not appear duplicated on the transcript.
