Add the ability to record the school number or name where a transfer credit was taken on the diploma requirements screen.

In Ontario, we are required by the Ministry of Education to record the "mident" (Ministry ID number) of a school where a transfer credit was granted.

Not a standard response. And not an indication of the intent to implement at all. I just wanted to give a sense of time - not likelihood.

Thanks for returning the status to open... it sounds like this is not going to happen based on your reply.

The suggestion of adding a UID in brackets in the record title is not needed. Our school (and other schools I am sure) have a band aid solution in place because there is no School # field. We are a creative bunch. I would just love to see this field added.

I am curious though, is this a standard response for other records that are missing fields? I would rather see this idea rejected and be transparent on where our schools stand than being giving a suggestion that seems to trivialize our needs.

Sorry the update doesn't completely fill the need you expressed. I've reset the status. I only marked it implemented, because we did recently update the page to show transfer school information and the title said "number or name" - we love being able to say we added an idea :-).

As a workaround, could you include the number with the name of the school, e.g. "West Ontario Academy (54321)". If it is integral to know that info about Ontario schools, that could help at least. It would get you the info in the place you need it now - as opposed to when the teams can circle back to Core > orgs and Academics > diplomas.

@StephanBoyle Yes, this the practice we follow. The MIDENT (Ministry ID Number) or school number, is similar to a user number. In our case this unique identifier (UID) is given to schools in Ontario, however having a UID that can be managed so it works with other system is a best practice.

With this clarification, this has not been implemented. Expanding on your explanation, "if the transfer course was added correctly, its school should show in the info panel" it still does not have a UID.

If an organization has been added correctly in CORE > Settings > School Information > Organizations, the record for an organization only has three categories: 1) Org Information, Org Type, and Contacts. Within these categories, the available fields are:

    • Name

    • Active

    • Address

    • Address 2

    • City

    • Country

    • State

    • Province/county

    • Postal/ZIP

    • Referring Org

    • 2rd Party Paying Org

    • Transfer School

    • Contact Name

    • Contact Title

    • Contact Phone

    • Contact Email

    • Contact Fax

    • Secondary Contact Name, etc.

As you can see, there is no UID that can be attributed to an Organization record. We can do this for other objects in the database, and it makes sense that an org number is there. In our case, Ontario schools are required to have this but I am sure others schools outside of Ontario would benefit as having a UID for ORG records would help with data consistency and inoperability with other systems. It is not just my school or Jan's school. Please change the status to investigating/Considering and revisit this request, please.

Super important to add this, it would nice to output this data besides displaying too.
